The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) conducted an attack on the Russian airbase in Morozovsk together with the military and Defense Forces.
This was reported by a source in the security services to the 24th Channel.
The drone attack took place on the night of April 4-5. The first explosions occurred around midnight local time. The governor of the Russian region, Vasily Golubev, stated that over 40 strike drones attacked the military airbase located near the town of Morozovsk in the Rostov region.
Local social media and Telegram channels reported the characteristic sounds of drones flying and dozens of explosions. Eyewitnesses also observed bright flashes in the sky near the airbase.
At the same time, Golubev claimed that Russian air defense in the Morozovsk district allegedly destroyed over 40 aerial targets. According to him, the attack damaged a substation, causing power supply problems in the region.
The airbase housed frontline bombers such as the Su-24, Su-24M, and Su-34. Russia uses these aircraft to drop guided aerial bombs on the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and frontline Ukrainian cities.
As a result of the operation, at least 6 Russian military aircraft were destroyed, and another 8 suffered significant damage. In addition to the equipment, around 20 Russian military personnel were killed or injured.
