Russia initiated a massive attack on Ukraine on the night of December 29. Later, the alarm was sounded again in the morning. The enemy began actively shelling civilians and buildings with missiles and strike drones. The air raid alert was sounded three times and lasted nearly 5 hours in total.
We have gathered all the relevant information for various regions of Ukraine.
Explosions in Kyiv:
The air raid alert in Kyiv started at 06:47 in the morning. The Kyiv City State Administration immediately warned of the approach of 10 cruise missiles. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported the operation of air defense systems. The Kyiv City Administration promptly published all the information:
- In the Podil district, debris fell into a warehouse covering an area of approximately 3000 m2. A fire broke out there. Many casualties, the exact number is being clarified. Search for victims is ongoing.
- In the Svyatoshyn district, there was a fire in an uninhabited residential high-rise building. In another location, there were fires involving three parked cars. Both fires were extinguished. One injured person was found.
- In the Shevchenko district, there were preliminary damages to a residential building. The fire in the garage area was extinguished. Also, a fire was reported in the warehouse premises and on non-residential buildings. Preliminarily, 6 casualties were identified.
- People were rescued from the rubble of a warehouse in the Shevchenko district. The upper floors (from the 10th to the 8th) of an unfinished business center were partially destroyed. One person died, three were already hospitalized. Another injured person was freed from the rubble. The search operation continues.
- In the Darnytskyi district, damage to a building in the private sector was reported. No fire occurred.
- The building of the “Lukyanivska” metro station was damaged by the explosion, but it has already resumed its operation.
Explosions in Kharkiv:
Head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration Oleg Synehubov reported that occupiers launched about twenty strikes on the city of Kharkiv in the morning. In less than an hour, it became known about a repeated shelling of Kharkiv. Residents of the city and the region were urged to take cover. As a result of the shelling of Kharkiv, a 35-year-old man was killed, and eight people were injured. The authorities of Kharkiv recorded damage to the city’s civilian infrastructure: medical facilities, warehouses, civilian enterprises.
Explosions in Odesa:
Head of the Odesa Regional State Administration Oleg Kipar reported that there were casualties and fatalities as a result of the morning attack. After a drone attack at night, the Russians launched a missile strike on Odesa in the morning. The enemy targeted the homes of civilians. Two residents of Odesa died as a result of the attack. 15 people were injured, including two children aged 6 and 8. All the injured are currently receiving medical assistance in the city’s medical facilities. Two of the injured are in critical condition. Relevant services are working on-site.
Explosions in Lviv:
During the night, Head of the Lviv Regional State Administration Maxim Kozitsky reported a threat of drone use in the Lviv region. In the Yavoriv district, air defense was active. Within a few hours, an air raid alert was announced again in the Lviv region. Kozitsky emphasized the missile threat from strategic aviation aircraft of the Russian Federation. At eight in the morning, it became known that the enemy directed missiles at Lviv.
Maxim Kozitsky reported that a residential building in Lviv was hit. Unfortunately, the number of casualties on Khotkevych Street in Lviv has increased to eight. All are in moderate condition. At the time of the missile attack, people were in their homes. Most of them were injured by debris from windows shattered by the blast. A fire started in one of the city’s schools, presumably due to debris from a missile.
Explosions in Dnipro:
The head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, Serhiy Lysak, warned of missile danger in the region, urging residents of Kryvyi Rih and Dnipro to be cautious. Local media reported a series of explosions in the city, and later, one of the shopping centers caught fire. Serhiy Lysak noted that preliminary information indicates almost a dozen people affected. Four of them died.
Explosions in Cherkasy:
Head of the Cherkasy Regional State Administration Igor Taburets warned residents of an enemy attack. In Cherkasy, the third air raid alert has been announced since the beginning of the day. According to preliminary information, a Shahed drone was shot down by the mobile fire group in the Zvenyhorodka district at night. No casualties or destructions were reported. Our air defense forces continued to operate during subsequent alerts.
Explosions in Zaporizhia:
The Ministry of Health of Ukraine reported that as of 9:00, there is information about 10 injured people, two of them in critical condition, as a result of the Russian attack on Zaporizhia. People are still under the rubble of one of the buildings.
