From December 31, 2023, to January 1, 2024, Russia launched a night attack on Ukraine. Terrorists employed a record number of 'Shahed' type drones against Ukraine. They attacked from four directions.
The Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this.
On the New Year’s night of 2024, the enemy used a record number of strike UAVs of the ‘Shahed’ type. The attack was carried out in waves from four directions: Cape Chauda, Balaklava – Crimea, Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk – Russia.
According to the report, on December 31, the enemy used a record number of ‘Shahed’ type strike UAVs – 90. The Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed 87 out of 90 strike UAVs.
Air alarms were declared in most regions of Ukraine along the routes of the drones.
The Air Forces note that anti-aircraft defense practically operated in all regions. Mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces, fighter aviation, and anti-aircraft missile units of the Air Forces repelled the aerial attack.
Consequences of the night attack by the Russians:
Odesa
Direct and fragmentation hits on residential buildings, one fatality, 9 wounded.
Lviv
The enemy targeted two objects of national memory:
- The university in Dubliany, where Stepan Bandera studied 100 years ago.
- The museum of Roman Shukhevych in Bilohorshcha.
Dnipropetrovsk region
Enemy UAV targeted a facility in Dnipro, causing a fire.
In the Piatyhatka community of Kamianske district, 1500 families were left without electricity due to the occupiers’ drone, which touched the power line. Experts promptly arrived at the scene. As reported, power has been restored to all households.
