President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and the First Lady of the country, Olena Zelenska, paid tribute to the memory of the fallen heroes during the events of the Revolution of Dignity.
“Ten years ago we stood and continue to stand. Hundreds and hundreds – heavenly and living defenders of our right to be! Thank you for everything! And we will stand together”, emphasized the president.
Zelensky added that “ten years have passed since attempts to destroy us and our independence continue. Bullets were fired against the unarmed Heavenly Hundred. Now it’s missiles, drones, and armies”.
Additionally, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, published a video address on the Day of Remembrance of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred.
“Today, Ukraine honors the memory of the feat of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. The memory of how Ukrainians know how to fight for their own freedom. The memory that our unity has no enemy capable of defeating it. That the selflessness of Ukrainians knows no bounds and makes history”, he said.
Zelensky stated that “10 years ago, Ukrainians decided once and for all: we want and will only live in a European state. All this 10 years ago was a stimulus for the people to fight”.
February 20, 2014, is the most tragic day of the Revolution of Dignity, as it was then that the shootings of protesters took place on Institutskaya Street. Security forces opened targeted fire on demonstrators, resulting in the deaths of 48 people and over 80 sustaining gunshot wounds.
“All this is a stimulus for us today. To defend our land. To defend our freedom. To defend our tomorrow. To defend our Ukraine. Glory to Ukraine!” added the president.
