The voting lasted June 8-21, with around 30 artistic flowerbeds participating.
The list included a flowerbed depicting the famous Russian warship stamp and the Mriya plane flower arrangement based on a child’s drawing.
The photo of Tetiana Blizniak breastfeeding her baby while sheltering in the Kyiv metro from shelling became an inspiration behind the “Madonna of Kyiv” image.
The photo was taken by the Hungarian photojournalist Andras Fjoldes in late February.
The picture became popular on the Internet and is called “Madonna of Kyiv”.
The photo was arranged in a flowerbed by landscapers of the Solomyanskyi district near the traffic line on Vadyma Hetmana street.
The flower arrangement has a size of 149 square meters and consists of 37,000 flowers.
Overall, around 320,000 flowers were used to create patriotic flowerbeds in Kyiv.
