Lithuania, together with the United Kingdom, Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, and Iceland, plans to procure air defense equipment for Ukraine amounting to 107.5 million euros.

This information was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Lithuania.

“Lithuania consistently finds various ways to support Ukraine. The acquisition of air defense systems by seven countries will enhance Ukraine’s ability to protect critical infrastructure, civilian population, and military personnel”, said Arvidas Anushauskas, the Minister of Defense of Lithuania.

The procurement of air defense systems for Ukraine is the first of five expected support packages within the framework of the second round of purchases by the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU). The seven allied countries have raised almost 608 million euros for this fund. During the first stage, combat and reconnaissance drones are also being manufactured, which will arrive in Ukraine this summer.

As previously reported, Kyiv has approached Canberra with a request to consider the possibility of transferring decommissioned F/A-18 fighters. According to Ukraine’s Ambassador to Australia, Vasyl Myroshnychenko, Ukraine’s request concerns the assessment of the condition of about forty aircraft of the Royal Australian Air Force, which are to be replaced with more modern F-35s.
