Vyacheslav Volodin, the head of the Russian State Duma, has stated that by February 21, the State Duma and the Federation Council will synchronously adopt a decision to terminate Russia's membership in the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE.

Volodin made this announcement during a plenary session of the State Duma, as quoted by The Insider publication.

Volodin referred to the OSCE PA as “an absolutely non-independent politicized organization dancing to the tune of Washington”.

The Parliamentary Assembly brings together 57 member states of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

Established in 1991, the organization aims to monitor the fulfillment of OSCE goals, develop and implement mechanisms for conflict prevention and resolution, and promote the strengthening and consolidation of democratic institutions in OSCE participating states.

Earlier reports indicated that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba believes that the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe should address the rights of national minorities in Russia. This issue should become a priority.
