On the night of May 9, the Russian army launched 25 cruise missiles against the Ukrainian people, with the Ukrainian air defense managing to shoot down 23 enemy objects.
This was reported by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhnyy.
Closer to 4 a.m., the Russians launched 17 air-launched missiles of the X-101/X-555 type from strategic aviation Tu-95MS aircraft (in the Caspian Sea area). The PVO of the “Center” command managed to shoot down 14 of them, with one more being downed in the “South” responsibility zone.
“Overall, during the two waves of shelling of Ukraine on the night of May 9, 2023, the Russian occupiers carried out launches of 25 Caliber and X-101/X-555 cruise missiles. 23 of them were destroyed by the Air Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in cooperation with components of the Defense Forces of Ukraine”, said the Chief of Staff.
The capital once again became the main target for the occupiers, with 15 missiles aimed at Kyiv, but all of them were shot down by the Ukrainian air defense forces.
