The Russians are likely preparing for another incursion into Ukraine through the Chernihiv and Sumy regions
This was stated by Ihor Prokhorenko, a representative of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“In Sumy and Chernihiv, the situation is under control. The enemy is amassing troops on the territory of the Russian Federation, daily launching air and artillery strikes on border settlements, using UAVs. They are attempting to destroy critical infrastructure, attacking with missiles and ‘Shaheds'”, Prokhorenko reported.
Defense forces are working to allocate new reserves and means of firepower. They aim to seize the initiative on the battlefield.
It is also known that the Russians are advancing in the Kharkiv region. The General Staff reported that they are unsuccessfully trying to encircle the city of Kupiansk from the east.
“Fierce fighting is ongoing along almost the entire front line. The defense forces are inflicting heavy losses on the invader; our artillery is actively engaged, unmanned systems are operational, and aviation is being deployed”, Prokhorenko said.
Earlier, the General Staff reported that the occupiers conducted seven assault actions in the Kharkiv direction. They were repelled near the settlements of Hlyboke and Lyptsi. Ukrainian soldiers are fighting back and continue to repel four enemy attacks in the Vovchansk area.
