Russians refuse to return seriously wounded individuals, medical personnel, and women outside the conditions of the exchange, systematically violating the terms of the Geneva Convention.
This was stated on the “Kyiv” television channel by the head of the Regional Center of the Coordinating Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, Yulia Priymak.
“Ukraine is doing everything possible for the Russians to comply with the international conditions that Ukraine complies with. We constantly submit lists for exchange. Women, seriously wounded individuals, and medical personnel, of which there are still many in captivity, should not be subject to the exchange. Russia reluctantly agrees to these conditions. The leadership of our state has repeatedly proposed an exchange of all for all. Today, this is still under consideration. So far, 215 women have been returned from captivity among all those who have been released. In the last exchange, among the 95 defenders, four seriously wounded defenders were returned. Ukraine consistently fulfills the conditions of the Geneva Convention and tries to return injured Russians outside the conditions of the exchange. Of the total number of returned Ukrainians – civilians, there are 113 men and 26 women”, Priymak says.
