The Russians cannot drive Ukrainian troops out of Vuhledar, so they want to level it to the ground.
This was reported by Nazariy Kishak, the commander of the machine gun unit of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade, during an interview on the “Kyiv” TV channel.
“The enemy is mercilessly using aerial bombs, increasingly shelling Vuhledar and the surrounding areas. We see how a bomb hit a house, killing several civilians and servicemen. The enemy understands that they cannot approach Vuhledar at close range. They want to repeat what they did in Bakhmut, shelling the city so that the Ukrainian infantry would withdraw from their positions. But the infantry is strong, and we cannot allow this to happen”, said Kishak.
