From the evening of December 31 to January 1, 2024, occupiers shelled Kherson and fired 92 projectiles at the city. A residential building in Veletenske came under fire, resulting in two people trapped under the debris.

This information was reported by the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin.

“Over the past day, the enemy carried out 123 attacks, launching 565 projectiles from mortars, artillery, Grad rockets, tanks, UAVs, and aviation, including 1 missile”, the statement said.

Prokudin stated that Russian forces fired 92 projectiles at Kherson, targeting:

  • Residential quarters in populated areas of the region
  • Medical institution
  • Educational institution
  • Critical infrastructure object
  • Gas station
  • Car center and base in Kherson
  • Critical infrastructure objects in the Kherson district
  • Checkpoint and educational institution in the Berislav district.

As a result of the Russian aggression, one child was killed, and 14 people were injured, including one child. It is reported that two people were trapped under the debris. A 73-year-old woman suffered fatal injuries, and her body was recovered by the State Emergency Service from the destroyed home.

Another local resident, a 50-year-old woman, was successfully rescued. She was hospitalized with injuries to her legs and spine, and she is receiving all necessary assistance.
