As of March 2024, the Russian Aerospace Forces had approximately 100 Su-35 multi-role fighters, over 100 Su-34 fighter-bombers, and 7 A-50U long-range radar detection and control aircraft.
This information was provided by the Main Intelligence Directorate to the ArmyInform news agency in response to its inquiry.
According to official data from the Ukrainian Air Force, as of March, Ukrainian forces have shot down two enemy A-50 long-range radar detection and control aircraft, 12 Su-34 fighter-bombers, and two Su-35 multi-role fighters since the beginning of 2024.
Former spokesperson for the Ukrainian Air Force, Yuriy Ignat, explained that such a number of destroyed aircraft became possible due to the elimination of the A-50 aircraft. Russian pilots receive less information about the radar stations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and air defense systems, making them more vulnerable.
At the same time, three A-50U aircraft are undergoing repair and modernization.
It is worth noting that, according to the General Staff, Russia has lost 347 aircraft since the beginning of the invasion.
