This is not an attack within the combat zone but specifically aimed at the rear solar power plant.

This was reported by the Chairman of the Board of Ukrenergo, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, during a press conference at the Ukraine-Ukrinform Media Center.

“Yesterday, the enemy deliberately attacked a solar power plant. This is the first, at least to my memory, case of a deliberate attack on a renewable energy facility”, Kudrytskyi said.

He clarified that this is not an attack within the combat zone but specifically aimed at the rear solar power plant. He also mentioned that this is the first case he remembers of a targeted attack by Russia on a renewable energy facility.

According to Kudrytskyi, this is not an attack within the combat zone but specifically aimed at the rear solar power plant. He also reported that due to increased electricity consumption, there is no acute deficit in the power system. However, electricity production at solar power plants is increasing.

On May 28, 2022, in the city of Merefa, located about 30 kilometers from Kharkiv, an enemy missile strike destroyed a solar power plant.
