The Russian army shelled the village of Stepok in the Sumy region, resulting in the death of the last resident of the settlement.
This was reported by “Suspilne”.
The death of a 60-year-old man was confirmed by his son, Ruslan, local authorities, and the SBU. The body of the deceased was found on January 24. Local authorities report that, presumably, the occupiers shelled the village over the past weekend or on Monday, January 22.
The statement notes that the man was the last resident of the village of Stepok, all other people were evacuated. The village is located near the border with the Russian Federation, near the humanitarian crossing “Pokrovka-Kolotylivka”.
According to the son of the deceased, there was no electricity in the village, and shelling occurred every day. They bought a generator and a battery for the man, he had domestic animals, and that’s how he survived there. A shell hit his room directly, damaging the kitchen and shed.
The SBU has launched an investigation into the violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder.
