The Ukrainian delegation participated in the inaugural meeting in Brussels to launch the screening process, an important assessment of Ukrainian legislation for compliance with EU law that precedes the official start of accession negotiations.

Deputy Prime Minister Stefaniyshyna stated that Ukrainian institutions are ready for active cooperation.

As part of the preparation for the start of direct pre-accession negotiations, Ukraine will formulate roadmaps in the areas of the rule of law, freedom of movement for persons (justice, freedom, security), and public administration reform.

Deputy Prime Minister Olga Stefaniyshyna emphasized that Ukrainian institutions are mobilized and ready for active cooperation.

“Screening is the first fundamental step at the beginning of the negotiation process. Starting this process, we realize the responsibility associated with it. It’s not just about a list of reforms but about collective efforts aimed at Ukraine meeting the high standards set by the European Union”, Stefaniyshyna stressed.

She reminded that even before receiving the official decision of the Euro-Rada, Ukraine conducted a self-screening process, allowing it to assess the adaptation of Ukrainian legislation to European standards.

The Ukrainian side also presented its vision of the national negotiation architecture. Participants in the meeting discussed approaches to forming negotiation teams, preparing the EU negotiation framework and Ukraine’s negotiation position, holding the first intergovernmental conference, and the calendar of interaction for the coming months.
