Spain has announced the rapid transfer of M113 armored tracked vehicles to Ukraine.
This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Spain, Margarita Robles, at the 19th meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine (the “Ramstein” format).
The Minister of Defense announced the rapid dispatch of a new batch of M-113 armored tracked vehicles. Two of them have been converted into emergency response vehicles. Following them, several firefighting, snow removal vehicles, personnel transport vehicles, as well as various materials, including two light boats, a generator, and a water purification system, will be sent.
Robles also announced the transfer of various weapons for air defense, air, and naval operations. The Spanish Ministry of Defense reported that Robles noted the very good pace of training of Ukrainian military personnel in Spain. She praised the quality of training, which includes the use of Patriot, NASAMS, and Hawk systems, as well as planning and conducting underwater demining.
During the meeting, the minister also noted that Spain would participate in six coalitions to support Ukraine, which, according to her, form the basis for long-term assistance and play an important role in promoting the Ukrainian Armed Forces towards full operational compatibility with allies and partners.
Earlier, it was also reported that Spain had handed over two medical armored vehicles to Ukraine for providing medical assistance and patient evacuation. This humanitarian aid is part of a €46 million package that Spain has provided to Ukraine since the start of Russia’s invasion.
