The Russian landing ship "Caesar Kunikov" was carrying up to 14 units of armored vehicles and 140 personnel.

This was stated by Captain 1st Rank of the Naval Forces reserve, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy (2004-2020), and strategic expert of the company “Sonata” Andriy Ryzhenko.

“The ship listed to the left and sank. It was sailing alone, without any escort or countermeasures. Such ships have weak defense and also weak anti-aircraft protection. They hoped they were within the 12-mile zone from Crimea, in our territorial waters, which means they had cover from air defense systems. Unfortunately, that didn’t save them. Under such weather conditions, during the dark hours of the day, detecting anything becomes very difficult”, – he said.

Ryzhenko mentioned that the “Caesar Kunikov” was carrying up to 14 units of armored vehicles, such as armored personnel carriers (BTR), and 140 personnel on board.

On the morning of February 14, the Main Intelligence Directorate and the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed the Russian large landing ship “Caesar Kunikov”.
