The commemorative plaque was dedicated to the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This was announced by the mayor Oleksandr Markushyn.

The opening of the commemorative plaque is dedicated to the Independence Day of Ukraine.

“Today we celebrate the Independence Day of Ukraine in the free Ukrainian city of Irpin… And we do it differently than last year or a few years ago – somehow automatically and without thinking. The feeling of the value of this moment goes beyond the scale. After all, it could not be. “If it weren’t for the volunteer guys who were the first to defend Irpin and did everything to drive the enemy out from our city,” Markushin wrote in his Telegram.

In honor of the volunteers, the first commemorative plaque in Ukraine to the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was installed in Irpin.

“Thanks to these fighters, we stood our ground and won our victory. Thanks to their high patriotism. Unfortunately, we lost 38 defenders of Irpin. But their memory will always live on! Irpin won. But Ukraine’s battle continues. And we know what we are fighting for! We will never become blind slaves. Because independence is in our blood,” the mayor of Irpin added.

Relatives of the fallen soldiers were present at the opening of the commemorative plaque.
