IAEA experts are closely monitoring the situation at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, but during recent inspections, they did not find any signs of a threat there

This was announced by the agency’s director-general, Rafael Grossi.

“I have been in contact with the experts of the permanent mission at the Zaporizhzhia NPP today, just a few hours ago. We are aware of the claims and statements from both sides… During the recent inspections, we did not detect any signs of a threat, but we remain extremely vigilant”, Grossi said at a briefing in Japan, commenting on reports of a sabotage threat at the Zaporizhzhia NPP.

He added that “we cannot relax” at the moment and promised to provide regular updates on the situation at the plant.

Military expert and co-chair of the civil initiative “Right Cause”, Dmytro Sniehyrov, explained how a possible provocation at the nuclear power plant could look like.

He noted that during the destruction of the Zaporizhzhia NPP by Russia, they would attempt to simulate an external strike in order to blame Ukraine for the catastrophe.
