The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted changes to the state budget for the year 2023, which entail an increase in expenditures by UAH 322.6 billion. The majority of these funds will be directed towards defense and social support.

As reported by Member of Parliament Yaroslav Zheleznyak, the changes were approved after more than 11 hours of consideration of amendments.

Specifically, the budget for the Ministry of Defense will increase by UAH 211 billion, the Ministry of Internal Affairs by UAH 79 billion, and the Ministry of Social Policy by UAH 16.5 billion.

These changes will help Ukraine strengthen its defense and provide social support to citizens affected by the war.

On September 15, the government approved the budget project for the year 2024 with its own revenues of the general fund of the budget amounting to UAH 1.56 trillion and expenditures of the general fund amounting to UAH 3.108 trillion.

It’s worth noting that Ukraine’s state budget will receive a grant of $1.25 billion from the United States as part of the World Bank project “Support for State Expenditure to Ensure Sustainable Public Administration in Ukraine”.
