Ukrainian military personnel were able to shoot down a Russian aeroballistic missile "Kinzhal" for the first time, on the night of May 4.
This was stated by Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Mykhailo Oleshchuk,
“Congratulations to the Ukrainian people on this historic event! Yes, we shot down the ‘unparalleled’ Kinzhal!”, he emphasized.
The commander clarified that this happened during a nighttime attack on May 4 in the sky over Kyiv region, and the X-47 missile was launched by a MiG-31K from the territory of Russia.
Oleshchuk also emphasized that information that could be used by the enemy should not be disclosed in advance.
Earlier, Defense Express reported on the downing of the hypersonic “Kinzhal” missile, having received a photo of the missile debris from its own sources. However, at that time, the spokesperson for the Air Force Command, Yuriy Ignat, did not confirm the downing of the “Kinzhal” missile over Kyiv on May 4 in an interview with the “Kyiv” TV channel.
