The undermining of the dam threatens the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP).
This was reported by the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak.
“Another act of war by Russian terrorists. The President is convening the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC). This is an ecocide. The Russians will be held accountable for the possible deprivation of drinking water for people in southern Kherson region and Crimea, the possible destruction of populated areas and the biosphere. Their actions also pose a threat to the Zaporizhzhia NPP”, Yermak wrote on Telegram.
Yermak also stated that the central and regional authorities are working to resolve the issue.
“We must ensure punishment for the enemy at the international level”, added the Head of the Presidential Office.
In connection with the undermining of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant (Kakhovka HPP) by the occupiers, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky called an emergency meeting of the NSDC.
Earlier, we reported that due to the undermining of the Kakhovka HPP by the occupiers, the evacuation of the population from the affected areas has begun. This was reported by the head of the Kherson Regional State Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin. According to him, the water level will reach a critical point within 5 hours.
It became known that last night, Russian invaders undermined the Kakhovka HPP, which could lead to a catastrophe in the region.
