So-called deputies of unrecognized Transnistria adopted an appeal to Russia at a congress requesting protection from "pressure from Moldova".
This was reported by the Moldovan publication Newsmaker.
It is noted that in the statement, the deputies emphasized that Moldova has initiated an “economic war,” causing Transnistria’s budget to suffer from a multimillion-dollar deficit, and refuses to negotiate with Tiraspol. Because of this, the “deputies” decided to appeal to the OSCE, CIS, European Parliament, International Committee of the Red Cross, and the Secretary-General of the UN. They called for “influencing the leadership of Moldova to return to adequate dialogue and stop violating the rights and freedoms of the inhabitants of Transnistria.”
They also urged reaching out to participants in the international negotiation process in the “5+2” format.
Recall that on February 28, a congress of local deputies at all levels began in unrecognized Transnistria, which had not been held for 18 years. Participants are officially supposed to discuss the pressure allegedly exerted on the region by the pro-Western government of Moldova.
