The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, in cooperation with other agencies, continues the operation to rescue Ukrainians who have found themselves in the conflict zone in Sudan.

This was reportedby the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Oleh Nikolenko.

“From April 24 to 26, diplomats evacuated three groups of citizens: 83 Ukrainians and 4 Sudanese – members of their families, as well as 51 foreigners (citizens of Georgia, Peru, Canada, and Saint Kitts and Nevis)”, the report said.

It is noted that 64 expressed a desire to return to their homeland. It is expected that they will arrive today on a charter flight to Poland and will be transported to Ukraine.

Another group of 5 Ukrainians managed to leave by bus to the territory of Egypt this morning. They are now safe. Three more citizens were evacuated in coordination with the government of Germany.

“In total, thanks to a multi-level and carefully planned operation, Ukraine has already evacuated 91 citizens from Sudan”, the spokesperson of the ministry clarified.

It should be reminded that on April 15, there was an attempted military coup in Sudan. On the same day, it became known that one of the two aircraft of the Ukrainian airline SkyUp was damaged at Khartoum International Airport. 36 employees were transported to a safe place, but the Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not report on their evacuation.
