Ukraine aims to form a coalition of countries to bring back Ukrainian children who were taken to Russia.
This was announced by the Ministry of Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories, which cited the words of Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vereshchuk on the “Rada” TV channel.
“In this matter (the return of orphaned children – ed.), the help of the world community is very important to us. A pool of international leaders who have expressed their public support for such a coalition is already being formed. Among them are Ursula von der Leyen, Mateusz Morawiecki, and others. There should also be a mediator. It could be anyone: the International Committee of the Red Cross, UNICEF, etc. I hope that such a platform will start working soon”, Vereshchuk said.
Vereshchuk reminded that Russia illegally holds 4,396 orphaned children on temporarily occupied territories and illegally transported them to the Russian territory.
As of the morning of April 9, 2023, more than 1,415 children in Ukraine have suffered, and 468 have died as a result of full-scale armed aggression by the Russian Federation. As reported, over a million Ukrainian children in the occupied territories are under the influence of Russian propaganda. The main goals are formal and informal education, as well as youth movements. This is done to bring up Ukrainian children in the “Russian world” style.
