EUR 5 billion in macro-financial aid from the European Union will arrive in Ukraine in mid-October.
“We have been discussing of course the budget support, the so-called macro-financial assistance. I am very glad that today the European Parliament now has voted positively on the 5 billion loans. And we are working on the rest of macro-financial assistance. The 5 billion can be disbursed in the first tranche mid-October. So there is a clear path that we have discussed together,” said the European Commission President.
On September 15, the European Parliament supported the European Commission’s decision of September 7 to launch a new large-scale EU macro-financial assistance program for Ukraine, which is eighth in a row, in the amount of EUR 5 billion. The aid will be aimed at financing the state budget’s priority needs, contributing to sustaining Ukraine’s financial stability.
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, arrived on a visit to the Ukrainian capital on Thursday, September 15.
