New Marine Corps brigades equipped with modern technology and weapons will be formed in Ukraine.
This was announcedby the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, during his visit to the positions of the Marines in the Donetsk region.
“Today, I also have the honor to announce that a decision has been made to significantly increase the potential of the Ukrainian Marine Corps by creating a Marine Corps. The state will do everything to develop your important and strong branch of the military, to equip our Marines with modern weapons and technology, and to create new Marine brigades in Ukraine. Those who already know how to do the impossible will become even stronger”, he said.
The President emphasized that since the beginning of the Russian aggression, the military units and divisions of the Marine Corps have reliably held the defense in the most responsible areas of the front, professionally and confidently destroying the occupiers.
In addition, the Marines prove every day that they are a powerful force that defeats the enemy, liberates our lands, and accomplishes the most difficult tasks under the most challenging conditions. It should be noted that today Ukraine celebrates the Day of the Marine Corps. From 2014 to 2017, it was celebrated on November 16, but in 2018, the date was moved to May 23.
