The tariff on the export of most Ukrainian grain to Turkey will remain at zero, as this product is imported for sale in third countries.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
As explained by the department, Turkey currently has two customs regimes for imports:
- for products intended for domestic consumption;
- for goods that are sold in third countries before or after processing.
For the first category, the Turkish government has increased the import duty from zero to 130%. However, for the second category, no duty is paid. It is noted that Ukraine supplies products to Turkey mainly under the second customs regime. Such grain accounts for about 95% of all exports to this country.
It should be recalled that Turkey has raised the tariff on agricultural products to 130%. From May 1 of this year, the country will introduce an import duty on wheat, barley, and corn. However, grain exporters do not exclude its cancellation in the new season which will start on July 1, 2023.
