The defense forces have retreated from the village of Lastochkyne in Donetsk region, near Avdiivka.
This was reported by the spokesperson of the Operational and Strategic Forces Group “Tavriya,” Dmytro Lykhoviy, during a televised marathon.
According to him, the defense forces withdrew from Lastochkyne to organize defense near the villages of Orlivka, Tonenke, and Berdychi to prevent the advancement of Russian forces in the western direction.
The active assault on Lastochkyne began after the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Avdiivka. The Russians reported the capture of the village of Lastochkyne several days ago and stated that they continue to push towards Severne and Orlivka.
The OSINT community reports that as of February 25, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have effectively lost control of the village despite statements from command. Russian forces attempted to consolidate their positions in the outskirts of Orlivka and Tonenke, and had partial success south of Severne. In the summary provided by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces today, as of the morning of February 26, it was reported that Ukrainian defenders repelled 25 attacks on the Avdiivka direction, including in the area of Lastochkyne.
