Ukrainian intelligence successfully lured an enemy helicopter, along with its pilot, into Ukraine.
This information is reported by the publication “Ukrainska Pravda”, citing authoritative sources within the security services.
As a result of a six-month special operation by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Ukrainian intelligence managed to seize a Russian Mi-8 helicopter belonging to the Armed Forces of Russia. Ukrainian intelligence lured the pilot of the Mi-8 AMTSh helicopter into Ukraine.
It is reported that the enemy crew was conducting a flight between two airbases and transporting parts for Su-27 and Su-30SM fighter jets. Two other crew members were on board who were unaware of the true destination of the helicopter. They were eliminated during the operation.
The pilot who began cooperating with the Ukrainian Main Intelligence Directorate and his family are currently in Ukraine; they were safely evacuated from Russia.
The Mi-8 landed in the Kharkiv region. The helicopter, along with the parts intended for Russian aircraft, remains in Ukraine.
Recall that earlier, the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian parliament) passed a bill on providing monetary rewards for voluntarily handing over operational military equipment of the occupiers to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
