Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhnyi responded to yesterday's rumors of his dismissal with a fresh photo on Facebook.

Valeriy Zaluzhnyi posted a photo on his Facebook page without adding any captions.

In the picture, the Commander-in-Chief is next to the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Serhiy Shaptala. In the comments, Zaluzhnyi received expressions of support and gratitude from Ukrainians. A similar photo of Zaluzhnyi and Shaptala was posted a little earlier by Ukrainian officer Anatoliy Shtefan (Shtirlits).

Rumors about Zaluzhnyi’s dismissal

Since the evening of January 29, rumors of the possible dismissal of Valeriy Zaluzhnyi from the position of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have remained the main topic in Ukraine. Some anonymous Telegram channels, as well as individual politicians and media, began to write about the alleged dismissal of Zaluzhnyi.

One of the sources in the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) informed Ukrayinska Pravda that Zaluzhnyi was summoned and offered another position, which he refused. The Ministry of Defense reacted to rumors about the dismissal of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhnyi and Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov: “No, this is not true”. Military expert, Ukrainian Army General Mykola Malomuzh, noted that Zaluzhnyi’s dismissal would lead to imbalance and could cause mistrust in the armed forces. He added that the military were ready to express their dissatisfaction.
