5 districts of the capital have already joined the "City of Living Walls" initiative.
This was reported in the Kyiv City Council.
It was noted that more than 20 sprouts of Vichy grapes were planted in the courtyard of the city council at 36 Khreshchatyk street. Already next year, “living” walls will appear here, which will not only provide coolness in the summer, but also delight for the eyes of employees, guests, and visitors of the Kyiv City Council.
The Kyiv City Council noted that vertical greening helps to improve the ecosystem, as green areas absorb dust and generate oxygen. And they added that five districts of Kyiv have already joined the “City of Living Walls” initiative: Darnytskyi, Desnyanskyi, Pecherskyi, Solomyanskyi and Shevchenkivskyi. Vichy sprouts were planted near schools, kindergartens, and some residential buildings in the districts. Soon, “living” walls will appear in all districts of the capital.
“The city authorities help to increase the area of green spaces in the capital and popularize vertical greening, which has long been a well-known eco-initiative in the world. Green walls absorb gas and noise, reduce the temperature in the room, and become a decoration of the urban space as well. We invite Kyiv residents to join the eco-initiative and green the capital together. For this, it is necessary to plant sprouts of Vichy grapes near your houses yourself or to management companies with such a proposal” the Kyiv City Council said.
