Today, on the 82nd anniversary of the Babyn Yar tragedy, Volodymyr Zelensky paid tribute to the memory of the victims of the mass shootings by Nazis of peaceful civilians in Kyiv during World War II.

The head of state lit a candle at the “Menorah” memorial on the territory of the National Historical and Memorial Reserve “Babi Yar.”
“Thank you for finding the opportunity to be here today, honoring the memory of the victims of Babyn Yar, Nazi repression, and the Holocaust. I thank the Jewish religious representatives who prayed for the memory of Babyn Yar’s victims”, he said.
Participating in the commemoration of the victims of the Nazi shootings and other victims at Babyn Yar were also: Head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak, Righteous Among the Nations Vasil Nazarenko, relatives and descendants of Babyn Yar victims, righteous individuals, former inmates of ghettos and Nazi concentration camps, and rabbis.
Representatives of Jewish religious organizations also recited a memorial prayer.
