Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a decree dismissing Oleksiy Danilov from the position of Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
This was reported on the website of the President’s Office.
“To dismiss Oleksiy Myacheslavovych Danilov from the position of Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine”, the text of decree No. 186/2024 reads.
At the same time, it is noted that the new Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council has been appointed by the president – Oleksandr Lytvynenko, who was previously dismissed from the position of head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.
Oleksandr Lytvynenko previously served as the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies, deputy secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, and held other positions.
Oleksiy Danilov was the thirteenth Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and held this position since October 3, 2019. He was appointed to replace Oleksandr Danylyuk, who resigned. Prior to this, he was the deputy secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, as well as the head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration. In 2006, he became a member of the Verkhovna Rada on the list of the “Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko”.
